After leaving school, Michael Abrams worked as a fork lift driver for ten years. During that time he worked in the evenings as a freelance greeting card artist, developing techniques and ideas, working with all the major Greeting card publishers.

Success in this area meant that he was finally able to follow his dreams and become a full-time artist in 1990.
